Greater gay presence marks '08 Atlanta Film Festival

This year’s Atlanta Film Festival sees a marked increase in films featuring gay and lesbian characters or storylines. Seven features and five shorts are among those in the festival’s Out on Film section. In addition, the event is set to include an Out on Film panel discussion, as well as the first annual Pink Peach award.

Charles Judson, communications director, says that while the festival has always featured gay and lesbian films in the past, this year’s aim was to put more of them before a broader audience.

Among the films presented at this year’s festival is ‘Semper Fi,’ a documentary about a gay marine’s crisis of conscience while serving in Iraq, and ‘Dandelion Fall,’ which was the Audience Award-winning short film from 2007’s Out on Film festival.  See Greater gay presence marks ’08 Atlanta Film Festival
